I'd put in $5.00 for Eric too, when it's time to put in $50 (plus shipping and whatever) for gloves. I know it's copycat but Eric won't care. It's the holidays.

j, if it's possible to host a file, i can send you the sales pdf file peccary peru sent me. i am just reluctant because of payment methods. i am trying to order a sample and see how things work out before placing a larger order.

maybe something can be worked out where everybody pays for themselves through paypal and then he ships out to one central location. the thing is i don't have the financial resources to place an order for 50 pairs and pay up front (50x50=$2500.).

Yes, email it to me ( j@styleforum.net ) and I'll put it on the site. Maybe we should set up an escrow account or something...? How is this usually done?

An escrow or trust account is a fund held by a third party which is released (in this case to seller peccary.peru) upn the satisfaction of certain conditions precedent. These conditions, I suggest, would be the approval of the sample followed by written or email confirmation that the particular gloves in the order are in fact available, in-stock, and will be shipped directly to the individual members within a reasonable (say, 10 days) time. The escrow agent would then release (or paypal) funds over to the seller for individual confirmed orders and then send back (by paypal) unfulfilled orders. This procedure seems cumbersome. Why wouldn't the shopping list be sent to peccary. peru first and then, upon confirmation of availability, members would then be asked to paypal funds to the forum?

the problem is that they charge $30 for shipping per sample - so it would be expensive for them to send to each person individually. usps priority mail will deliver them for $5 from any location in the us. once i get home, i will email the file to j and you can all see the details. the charges are around $43 per pair once we get to around 50 pairs. that way, add on say $200 shipping for the entire order and we are still at $47 plus the $5 usps and we are at $52. something like that. are there any sort of import duties on gloves? any other gotchas?

Might we have to consider shipping to one member, and then that member shipping them from there? That member would of course be graciously compensated by the collective buying body.

However this is handled, I'd like to sign on for a pair as well - in size XL.

I'm in for two pair (dk. brown & black) as soon as I figure out my size. Where'd I put that tape measure?

ok i have sent j the file - so soon you all should have access to the details and sizing info. maybe j will be kind enough to suggest a way (a table maybe?) to upload quantity, name, size and color info for everybody. then we can work on payment methods.

meanwhile, on the sample, the representative of peccary peru told me i could pay via paypal. it was in reply to an email i sent through their website. however, the paypal account is verified but with 0 feedback and in the name of that individual. is this common? is it pretty safe if i pay via credit card? can i claim my money back from the cc company if i get screwed over? opinions appreciated.

Here is the glove PDF. I may have a way to facilitate this process, though there would probably be a reasonable handling charge for the distribution, and obviously a shipping charge. I will talk to some people tomorrow and see how feasible this is, but it sounds promising. As for the table or spreadsheet, I am really not sure how to do that. Ideas?

Okay, I talked to someone (a very detail-oriented, organized, exacting person- perfect for this) who would be willing to do all the distribution, and if you all trust me I will be willing to place the order and handle the distribution, with a small handling fee for her time and effort. However, the whole deal is dependent on the quality of the sample gloves, obviously, so we will have to wait for housemaidsknee to get them before organizing the buy. Has anyone looked at the PDF? Personally, the type of dress gloves they offer are not my favorite kind, as I like to have elastic at the wrist, but they do look very nice, and at that price I can afford to have them altered to be perfect. Note that they expect 40 days of lead time for delivery, so these will not be Christmas gifts this year. [IMG]

    * The shipment was placed on the postal administration of Miraflores on December 18th 2004
    * The shipment went out of the postal office on December 12th 2004 towards United States.

    MY COMMENT:
This means that it should already be on the USA, probably in customs... Asuming it wasn't lost in transit, of course.

Not more than a couple of days.
BTW, this guy didn't mention anything about customs, that is what I mentioned.
By now it should already be on its way through USPS, or whichever local carrier takes care of it here (UPS, Fedex, DHL).
