Hey,

I'm thinking of purchasing a pair of Peal & Co.Chukka Field Boots for casual wearing.

I showed them to my friend who linked me to a similar pair from Aldo.. I've been trying to avoid Aldo but these are very similar...

I know Aldo can't compare with Peal & Co. but I figured for something like these it might be comparable since it's just casual. I'm a bit torn.

Should I cough up the extra cash for the Peal & Co?

Thanks in advance!

Those are much lower quality than regular Peal & Co shoes. I've heard they're made by Loake though I can't confirm. The Loake model these closely resemble cost about half as much as these IIRC.

If you order the Peals from Brooks Brothers, good luck ever getting them. I order a pair of shoes from them and they never came. I started getting the dreaded "shipping delayed" emails and I just canceled my order. Brooks is not to be trusted.

I will never order anything from Brooks.

I have them in dark brown and I like them. As far as quality goes, compared to other Peal & Co shoes and the shoes you pointed out, I really don't know. Like another poster in this thread, mine didn't come at first. It took me THREE MONTHS to get them. BB has turned to ****. Since you're picking up in the store, go for it, but I wouldn't pay more than around $250 for those.

I have two pairs of Peal shoes and find then very nice. Make sure you look them over very carefully as Peal does some sloppy work every now and again...

There is no Peal. Peal is a brand name that Brooks slaps on shoes sourced from other manufacturers.

Chin up, little soldier. If you really want something from Brooks, call a store and ask for it. When they say they don't have it, ask them to look on their database and find a store that does have it. Call that store and have them ship it to you.

I second the man you are replying to. When I ordered the boots the OP is asking about, they never came. I asked a month later, and they sent me some calf loafers instead. Not even Peal. I returned those and they finally got me my suede boots. Brooks is reorganizing. Their quality and service will never be the same.

Those are the cheap Peal for $250 so yes buy them. The regular Peals are $500. And yes, the quality is superb.

Brooks is very reliable, you don't know what you're talking about. There's only 1 problem that I can see and it's not Brooks fault.
Every time they have a sale, especially when the shoe prices are reduced, SF ers jump in there in numbers and start buying because this is about the only time they can even afford a pair. Practically no one even knows their correct shoe size or has ever been measured or tried the shoes on in the store. Consequently, they're always exchanging shoes back and forth which plays havoc with keeping track of the stock. Then yu have people coming in during shoe sales and buying a number of shoes with the intent to resell and make a few dollars and send the unsold pairs back causing more havoc with inventory control. Peals are a desireable and in demand product with limited supply so you get a lot of losers who buy sizes that won't even fit them just for the cache of owning them and then send them back
