I own the pebbled-grain version, and thought they were C&J. Great shoes, but I should really have bought a half size smaller, they're quite long.

Love them, but I don't wear them much b/c they are black.

I agree, they are pretty long, but not uncomfortably so. If I went down a 1/2 size, I would definitely have to go up a width b/c the 'D' width is pretty snug for a 'D.'

I have the pebble grain too and they are on the 325 last. Fit a bit narrow in the toe box. Mine are 8.5 D and I'm that size on the Alden Barrie last too. I wear 9D in various AE lasts.

So the calf is on the 317 last and the pebble on the 325? That seems kind of strange. I tried on the pebble grains last month (yes, they were on the 325) and I loved them. They ran true to size: I took a 10d, which is what I take on the AE last 1 (leeds, bradley).

I've never had a pebble grain. How would this shoe age?

Incidentally, the b.b. store also had a Paraboot algonquin blucher that was nice. In that shoe i was a perfect 9.5d.

Just received them today...they are indeed C&J based on 317 last. (I ordered brown calf). Size 7D is perfect, so I am real glad that I took the chance.
