Most likely not real. Bring your cursor to whatever hyperlink they give you in the email. Don't click on it. Look at the bottom left corner of your computer and see what web address the link is taking you to. Most likely, it will be some weird web address that has nothing to do with paypal and they are just trying to mine you for your paypal info.

Sounds like a phishing e-mail to me, i.e. a scam. If you are ever in doubt about e-mail communication, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. Call the main customer service number, or go through the company's reporting system.

I've even received "PayPal" emails that have even claimed that if I don't respond by a certain date, my account will be suspended. Hasn't come to pass yet, strangely.[IMG]

    totally a phishing scam.
"or your account might get temporarily suspended. Proceed with the link below."
does that sound like corporate correspondence? Aside from the fact that Paypal, nor any other financial companies, sends emails asking for all your personal information.

As noted in so many words above, this is not a notice from PayPal.

The sender ( a fisher / "phisher" ) simply broadcasts the same message to names on their list. They don't know you or whether you have an account with PayPal.

Do not respond to the message or activate any links in the message.

Simply forward the notice to: [email protected] .

PayPal will authenticate any forwarded messages.

PayPal will respond within 24 hours regarding the authenticity of any such message.

The same holds true for any message purporting to be from eBay or any other financial or fiduciary insitution.

Scam. I get at least 10 of these a day, and 20 more targeted at ebay users. All different variations, some poorly done and some pretty well thought out/set up. But all scams.

if anything, it should say when you log in.
if nothing wrong, then just log off.
