Will did a great little piece on Paul Winston on A Suitable Wardrobe. Please read it. Paul is a great guy and one of the treasures of New York's tailoring scene, even if you are not a Trad. Don't just read it, visit Paul at Winston Tailors. It is a great shop and you will enjoy Paul's stories about the tailoring and clothing world that was. And he has great stuff in his shop. Here is the Safari Jacket in a handwoven tweed that I crobbed from Will's blog. Go to the entry to click on a full size version.

I wonder from where the illustrations on the wall come? Collegiate Apparel Arts?

I guess that I have to get something from them at some point...before my childhood truly sails into the sunset.

The trousers are great. Burgess Meredith didn't wear them in Second Chorus, but he could have.

I'd love to see photo examples of Winston/Chipp's work.

It's never too late. In the bag under the jacket in the photo is a piece of light gray and cream herringbone cloth that an english sheepdog owner spent five years spinning and weaving by hand so Paul could make it into a jacket. Half the content is the hair of his favorite.

The possibilities stagger the imagination.

Do you know if iammatt's wife weaves?

And if so, what? Something combed?

I've never been in there, but I will go.

But, what if I don't want clothes made from dog?
