Paul Stuart suits

Got one in to consign... wondering if anyone knows who makes them and what they retail for?

My guess was Hugo Boss seeing as how they are made in Germany but the construction is canvassed and a lot better than most Boss I have seen.

Anyone know for sure?

Depends on the line. The top make (Stuart's choice) is ... oh, I forget. Some expensive Italian. I think Isaia. The middle range is Samuelsohn, out of Canada.

Hmmmm.... curioser and curioser... let me check that tag again since my guess would be Samuelsohn but I could swear it said made in Germany which would not make sense

It could be old. Then again, I am at a loss to think of a single tailored clothing factory in Germany big enough to handle the RTW volume of a store like Paul Stuart.

Nope. Made in West Germany model name is Eliteranzug.

Client could not remember when/where he picked it up so it could be an earlier model but looks new. Significant handwork on it.....

Samuelsohn is a prominent brand in Germany, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have or had factories there.

Manton - that was my thought but I've seen it used since then. I think there is still a bit of a west is better than east mentality in the marketing sector.

Otherwise construction would look dead on Samuelsohn.

Wish it had a date, one of those never worn jobs in a classic cut/pattern so dating it is nigh unto impossible.

Samuelsohn for the made in Canada suits, and Isaia for both the midrange and high end Italian made suits.

They only quality suitmaker I know of in Germany is Regent. But I don't know where exactly they are located, and I'm sure there are other makes I have not seen...

"Eliteranzug" means simply "Elite Suit" (idiomatically "One of the Elite Suit&quot.

Samuelsohn suits are made exclusively in Canada to the best of my knowledge. In general they are notable for being a fully machine made canvassed suit-- they have virtually no hand-done elements other than a little bit of shoulder lining basting. Most Samuelsohns are single vented or unvented (I have never seen one under their own label with double vents), and it is a pecularity that they often feature three cuff buttons. The internal tag has CTSCU union markings, plus French/English bilingual notes.

a. harris, you were correct. The suits were made by Regent. My understanding is that they have been moved to Italy ( I think St. Andrews. They still use Samuelsohn in Canada.

Well, many YSL and Burberry's suits are made in Germany, so there must be a large enough factory somewhere.

Interesting, considering that imports into the US are probably not allowed to have "West Germany" stamped onto them anymore. Not sure though. If I can remember, I'll call someone about it tomorrow.
