How is the fit? Most places that have them, they are very stocky/full. I'd love a slightly leaner (not trim or skinny) cut.

It's not too bad if you stick with the solid color suits. Last night I wandered Michigan Avenue and tried on a RLBL in 46L that was too tight in the shoulders and chest, a $2400 Zegna that fit in the shoulders and was a tent everywhere else, and finally the Phineas Cole Michael in a 44XL and it fit great. Might have been a tad short as most things are leaning that way but alterations would have been minimal.

Now just debating between one of those or getting something made up at Paul Chang. Or Despos when I stop in for the G&G trunk show next week. Finally have a reason to stop into his shop. Too bad he's out of my current price range.

Another excellent line-up from Paul Stuart! No one does casual shirts better than PS, in my opinion. The fit is great; fabrics are unique and ultracomfortable. Sure, you can get a blue or white shirt, but also a silky soft brown/green/purple plaid that you won't see anywhere else. Superb socks too. And, regarding Phineas Cole, while I couldn't wear the suits I don't think, I love the slacks -- I've got two pairs, one a super 130s gray wool, and the other a cotton/linen casual pant. Great fit.

By the way, I'll be in NYC on Friday -- is there a sale going on at PS?

Me, too. I like that their prices are just high enough to keep me out of the store. Being on the mailing list is some sort of torture.

So, are ascots becoming acceptable? In several of the shots a silk scarf or ascot was included as neckwear, the scarf being a little less formal but the distinction getting blurred. I've often wondered if I could sport a Hermes scarf without appearing too ****.

I handed my wife the Phineas catalog.
"This stuff looks stupid. I'm sorry but those pants are too tight around the legs" she said.
I handed her the Paul Stewart catalog.
"Oh, I like these!" picking out the $1100 side gusset shoes.

Size small worked well for me. Trim enought o easily wear under a jacket but not ultraslim. I went back yesterday and picked up a handknit alpaca sweater and a few more shirts.

Kabert...I agree on the fit on the Phineas trousers, they fit me as clsoe to bespoke as anything from RTW that I have. They rule!!
