Another Hollywood actor falls victim to rare asbestos related lung cancer. Rest In Peace Principal Richard Vernon...

I particularly enjoyed his second turn as Principal Vernon in "Not Another Teen Movie". I enjoy character actors who are capable of lampooning themselves.

RIP.

I did see that he died from meso. I wonder how he got it? Steve McQueen's cause was pretty easy to figure out - years of working on car and bike brakes, and heavy smoking on top of it. But this guy? I don't know.

I wouldn't worry unless they were old brakes. Most brakes by 1990 were asbestos-free, and a lot were by the mid-1980s.

They may be as old as 1974, but I'm not going to worry too much. I don't feel any more cancerous today than Friday.

Not to speak ill of the dead, but am I correct in remembering that Paul Gleason was implicated in some sort of child-Appreciation scandal several years ago - or was that another adult actor from one of the John Hughes films?

You might be thinking of Jeffrey Jones, the principal in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
