Pattern Matching on Windowpane Sportcoat

What should I expect from MTM with respect to pattern matching on a windowpane patterned sportcoat? Specifically with respect to the darting on the front of the coat--how the vertical lines lie. I had Greenfield make me an MTM sportcoat, and I wasn't thrilled with the way the darts interrupted the pattern. Is it too much to ask that the darts be done in between the vertical lines of the pattern, so that the windowpane boxes are simply narrower, rather than have the dart interrupt the vertical lines?

The ability to match the pattern where the coat is darted is influenced by several factors. Fisrt would be the repeat of the pattern in terms of inches. It would have to be perfect in order to match the pattern. Virtually impossible. The only way to get a perfectly matched front is to do a sack coat model.

Dart placed at midpoint between the WP lines is OK. Dart seam as close to the vertical WP pane line is more discreet. I dislike the dart sewn on the vertical stripe so the stripe disappears. If the dart is finished off at the pocket same as at the at the top of the dart, meaning finished to nothing, no cloth taken in or removed, the pattern will continue to match below the pocket. It may take extra cloth/expense if you have to adjust the layout of the pattern to achieve this. depends on jacket size and repeat of pattern in the cloth. MTM/CTM houses usually don't spend much time to figure this out. Would have to be a special request and a talented cutter who wants to make it happen.

Thanks for the responses. Do you think I need to make a specific request about this at a place like Greenfield? I'd think that given their quality level, this would usually be done as a matter of course. The reason I ask, even though they just made me a coat, is that I have another windowpane in the works.

The worst is when a stripe disappears only on one side of the coat.
