  • Epaulet x Styleforum Alpine Loden Collection

Loden wool, woven in Tirol for centuries, is known for its resistance to cold and wetness. Our project in collaboration with Epaulet introduces Alpine Loden, a modern 18oz fabric blend of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon, woven in Italy. It's lighter, more durable, wind-resistant, and more comfortable than traditional Loden fabric. Partnering with Rochester Tailored Clothing, we offer custom garments like sportcoats, suits, and overcoats, made to your specifications. Learn more about the Loden collection here.

Does anyone watch Sewing Bee?

One of the presenters, Patrick Grant, is the owner of Norton and Sons on Savile Row.

I have my clothes tailored on Savile Row, but not at Norton and Sons. To put it delicately, the way he dresses reinforces my choice of tailors.

Now, I am aware that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is also possible that the way he dresses is so clever that I don't understand it. But, to my eye, he is not a particularly good advert for his tailoring business.

Or have I missed something?

Good, not just me then!

I cannot quite put my finger on it, but it's the way he doesn't have enough "contrast". So he'll wear jacket and trousers of similar tone, in slightly different colours, so it looks like he is wearing a suit that doesn't match. Or a denim shirt with a tie. Or what he wears doesn't quite fit correctly.

I suppose it must be difficult, in a sense. He wouldn't want to look too Savile Row traditional, because he would turn off a young audience. Nor would he want to look the dandy, which can be hackneyed, if not done well.

He is a tall, handsome, chap so he has the frame for looking good. He just consistently doesn't, to my eye.
