Just picked up a navy linen/silk patchpocket jacket with white MOP buttons last night...Ive wanted one for awhile, and finally found one that fits. Problem is, i like the way they look on everyone else but im not not sure on a couple things.... I thought the white buttons would be nice, but im thinking i may change them to navy horn.

So, share some pics on how you wear your patchpocket blazers/sportcoats...I need some ideas folks. (and some reassurance that I like em. for some reason i feel it *may* be a bit early 80s looking)

I don't know what strikes you as particularly "early 80's" about patch pockets, but they are typical signifiers of an odd jacket.

Second request for pics of your jacket.

The MOP buttons on the jacket now sound nice. That's not unsual on a summer jacket and helps to liven it up a bit from a normal navy jacket with dark buttons. Are the buttons white white or sort of beige white? I'm having light MOP buttons put on a grey/green Caruso linen jacket right now for summer and I think they really make it stand out as a summer piece.

in elementary school my friends father always wore a maroon polyester sportcoat with patch pockets. this was in the 80s. Probably in my head...well, I know it is. I love em when i see them on anyone else.

had to snap a pic in the bathroom at my office with my phone. looking at the pic the sleeves are too short...will have to have them let out a bit. I like my sleeves a hiar short, but looking at the pic its about an inch too short for my liking.

not a fan of the jacket with the pants either. my "ensemble" today has more fail than edina.

hard to tell, but the shirt is cream with thin pink and lime green stripes and the PS is a pink linen with white edges.

I like the jacket, but I vote for replacing the bright white buttons with light MoP or horn buttons. I think that might make it look less "80s" to you as well.

Those are envelope patches and what looks like a welt breast pocket.

I view this as a slightly different animal from the 3-patch.

I have a coat with cream horn buttons. if i get the white MOPs replaced, ill probably get navy horn and maybe have them stitched in a different color. I need a "fun" jacket and wanted something with some color. Im thinking the buttons will probably be switched out. thanks for the input!
