Recently, I've managed to coax my fiancee into accepting the modern aesthetic for furniture. She actually approves of my design ideas and contributes constructively (it's our money and our house, .. so to be expected). Rarely, however, will she see a piece that she's truly in love with. Needless to say, the Moooi Paul Smith Bottoni was her idea, which I'm quite fond of. Since we're still in the fledgling stages of our decorating, there's a lot of room for manipulation and changing things around certain pieces. For instance, our bedroom (where the Moooi currently resides) is completely neutral excluding the armchair; this will soon change as we will be painting the room likely a variant of mauve. In any event, the reason I'm actually posting.. one of the other chairs she's fallen in love with is the Le Bambole '07 by B&B Italia. We found a deal, that I can probably knock down to 60% off of retail for a new denim armchair and ottoman. The dilemma: I really, really like the chair. It does not currently fit into our living room scheme as our rug is the Midnight Angela Adams Islands rug which is a lighter shade of blue than denim.. and it just wouldn't work. So ultimately, it may end up in the spare bedroom which is a faux-office or the other guest bedroom in the corner. All that being said? Should we? It's a good deal. It's unlikely that we'll find a deal on this particular piece again and.. we are very fond of it. I think we'll probably go ahead and ROBOCOPZ it but I am curious as to the opinions of my board compatriots. Ever passed on a deal on a piece of furniture (on sale, eBay, CL, etc.) that you later regretted? Ever gone back and paid full price?
