looks ok, probably shouldn't smush it down. Use some hair wax and comb it the direction you want it with your hands. You'll get a more natural look.

I sported a side-part until midway though ninth grade. After that I had the popular messy look but since I've been slowly going back to the part. Feels more ''me''. I say wear it with pride.

I'd say go for the part. It looks a bit awkward here since you took a picture looking straight down onto the part, but most of the time it won't be seen like that. If you're going to go for the part you probably should keep the sides cleaner + tighter too. But +1 on going for it.
