Paris recommendations

I'm planning a trip to Paris. What shops, restaurants and hotels (good, moderately priced) would you recommend? i'm specifically looking for some nice shirts (similar to Charvet in quality but more moderate in terms Of pricing) and French scarfs which I can wear with my jackets. Thanks in advance.

Good location, breakfast, nice sitting area the Hotel Britannique about $260US a night

A step up, quiet area, very nice, Hotel de l'Abbaye Saint Germain 240-350 euros (rates are much higher than a few years ago)

Both of these are located near nice cafes. They can direct you to them.

I see what he meant, sort of. Arny's is really unique and could only exist in Paris. I am not in love with the place myself but it's worth seeing at least.

Arnys is an interesting stop, sure, why not. But come on, it's f*ing Paris. You could go 20 times, never set a foot in Arnys and still have a perfectly "Parisian" experience. The idea that it's a must see when there's so much to see in that city is a bit absurd.

I typically stay in and around St. Germain. A few decent hotel recommendations, all within walking distance from Arnys, Berluti, etc.

Hotel de Montorgueil
Artus Hotel
Hotel Bel Ami

My fav hotel in Paris is the Hotel de Sers, a former aristocratic residence turned high-end boutique (free-standing tubs, B&O gear, terrific restaurant). It's just around the corner from the Georges V near the Champs Elysee, so I only stay here when working (going in and out of La Defense). I mention this place since the off-season pricing can be reasonable.

Overall, I've found Tablet Hotels to be a great resource for North America and Europe, less so for Asia.

Recommendation Store: "Colette" Metro Line 1 Jardin Tuillerie Rue St Honore
Recommendation Areas: Le Marais Chatelet, Rive Gauche, Rue de Renne etc...
Recommendation Dept Store: Printemps and Galerie Lafayette,
Biggest European Outlet village-> Val D'europe RER line A

I wasn't really saying it as an absolute. However, think back: before Borrelli, Brioni, Kiton, etc. updated to a more "modern" image, Arnys was really the only "cool" brand. Sure, now you find equivalence in other Italian or even English brands and shops, but Arnys was, in my memory, the original shop for the gentleman-artist, where clothes are not a mere extension of your body but also the creative spirit. I mentioned Arnys for its uniqueness. You don't have to like it, but that doesn't diminish its uniqueness in the sartorial world.

Charvet is also quite unique, but I am sure it is already on his list.
