Looking for hotel rec in Paris.
The choice hotelscombined etc throws up is baffling and I hate trawling and filtering.

Something in the (max)120euro/night range.
Something cosy with close access to a metro stop.
Boutiquey without boutique prices.
Characterful but not necessarily themed.
Modern is OK but not austere minimilism or kitsch.
Preferably not too big, conferencey isn't good.
Maybe left bank, but not essential.

advices...?
Thanks

I just returned from my honeymoon and we stayed at the Hotel Splendide Etoile at 1 Avenue Carnot, one block from the Arc de Triomphe - it might be a bit over your price cap but you'll be very pleased. The staff is excellent (notably concierge Farooq, who is very knowledgeable) and the breakfasts are tasty - also, across the street from the hotel are both a Metro stop and an Air France airport shuttle bus stop

I think its a bit more than your budget but it's 5 minutes from the Eiffel Tower and the hospitality is impeccable.

This is something like it. Also like the Sorbonne suggestion. Inclusive breakfast is desirable too.

I just stayed at Hotel de Lille two weeks ago. Next to the Louvre and D'Orsay if that's what you like.
http://www.hotel-paris-lille.com/ But I only slept there 6 hours/night for 100ish euros/night.

Free wi-fi (pretty useless for video and Skype). After hours, you have to call the night guard downstairs for service. No bed bugs.

http://www.parisperfect.com/ these guys are awesome and they have the best houses to rent. I would say screw the hotel and get yourself a flat to rent. I have been using them for years, you will not be disapointed.

Very nice. Slightly outside my price range.

call them up maybe you can negotiate a price, I have done so before. These places are empty so why not get something for them.

I stayed at Moulen Rouge hotel. It is right inside MR under the main stage and also two minutes from St. Deni, short taxi ride from Arc dT . I love PAriz.
