It seems to be getting worse. It's like it went from obsession over safety since the 1990's to a godawful mixture with the Gen Y "I'm a brand" mentality that automatically makes the baby a part of the parents' "fame" and as such is plastered all over their Facebook pages. So, WTF?

When 90% of your free time is dedicated to something, I guess it translates into how you behave and what you share to the outside world.

Mm I don't think these are examples of obsession per se, they sound on par with the joys of motherhood. It's just that we can't reciprocate their excitement since we're A) not female and B) not mothers, and so they seem somewhat ridiculous from our perspective. It's also like getting the climax of a movie without any of the build-up of the characters, hard to comprehend without the context of the babys in question (which again we'd need to be female mothers to understand).

Exactly what the fuck else should a 30-something mother be dedicating her energies toward?

And that's exactly why existence is pointless and life is nothing more than perpetuating the same cycle of dysfunction thru' the offspring

What I hate is when these people have kids and feel the need to cart them around everywhere in a stroller once they are older than 3 or 4.

Nothing worse than seeing some chubby man who gave up on his appearance(and I suspect sex life) carting around some grown child sipping a soda through his goateed mouth.

I learned how to ride a horse before I rode a bike. My father and I would go out into the woods and chop down fucking trees when I was three years old. When I see these brats out in public I imagine myself as still 3 years old and kicking their coddled asses up and down the sidewalk.

I'm curious as to this 'cycle of dysfunction' concept, hoping for a reference to Married with Children.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
