Thinking of removing the green tags from my Michaels - does anyone have experience with this?

We use a very sharp razor blade.

It depends on how sharp your blade is. If it fringes, just take a flame to it and it will singe back to the seam.

Good question. Depending on what color palette your wardrobe is, is something to consider. Should it primarily be earth tones that you be wearing these, than either color would work. However, should you want to bring in darker colors to the wardrobe mix, than we would suggest Cafe which would work for either direction in wardrobe compliments.

Update: I followed @Drinkwaters' advice on tag removal. Used a razor blade which got the tag down to the fringe and followed up with a disposable lighter.

I'm very happy with the results, though I did superficially nick the leather on one shoe, so it's not without its risks.
