Paolo Scafora shoes

What is the general consensus of Paolo Scafora shoes on the forum? I've seen a couple of pairs on their catalogue which have grabbed my attention.

Are they comparable to Santoni, Berluti, Kiton's?

i think t4phage can give you more details.
scafora is likened to the level of kiton and lattanzi but with a cheaper price. quality and craftsmanship is superlative.

At or just below the level of Lattanzi. Well above the level of Kiton.

Definitely fits in nicely to the group of superlative artisan shoemakers in Italy.

What price would these retail at?

Scafora customers correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Scafora bespoke only? Princes range from 1,200 to 1,700 Euros, which is amazingly low, all things considered.

No RTW sold to the US, unless you already are a bespoke customer.

I am hoping to have the fitting of my trial shoe at the end of this month but I have not heard conclusively from Paolo as of yet.

the only thing i may be hesitant about regarding scafora is the leather sole.
the emblem they put on their is very nice, but it is too large and maybe too deeply embossed or cut into the sole? perhaps shortening the actual life span of the soles from regular wear?

the emblem from afar makes the soles look like they are badly scuffed or if you stepped on some soft asphalt. any body else has this similar opinion?

Surprisingly enough, his prices are right in the middle of Italian bespoke makers that I have seen recently. I have seen well known names be as low as 750eu. Shocking really.

Paolo ' Glue Be Damned ' Scafora used to have an arrangement ( not sure how he does it now ) where he'd keep a handful of models on the floor, not unlike Vass, that you could actually purchase. Should the stars align in your favor that day the shop may even stock the desired size. Otherwise it's a made-to-order operation. The shoes are said to be completely off-the-dial.

I don't think it would be a problem - you wouldn't be wearing the embossed part out anyway, during regular walking. If it shortens their lifespan, it would only be (very) marginally.

All in all, shockingly handsome shoes.

Yes, shoes from Paolo Scafora can purchased from stock (as distinct from bespoke). The shoes are made to the identical standard. ie. handmade, awesome.

The price was more like EUR 650 when I bought a classic Oxford style from stock in 2007.
