Pants too long in the crotch: what can be done?

I found a great pair of RL chinos that I just love, but the crotch is too long. The waist sits comfortably, and the leg length is right, but the crotch hangs down too low. They also seem a bit baggy in the butt.

Is this something that can be easily altered? I saw a similar thread from last year but am still a little uncertain. Any expert advice would be welcome.

It's tough. They'd have to be shortened from the top, since the crotch cannot be taken up. That's going to cause problems with the pockets and the cut of the waist...

Probably they were cut to sit at the natural waist, not the hips.

Some people just wrap a cucumber in tinfoil and put it down there.

I was under the impression that it was quite easy to take in the crotch?

taking in is horizontal, and thats common and easy.
when its too deep, thats vertical and must be done at the top.

either wear them up higher. or have them shortened at the top.

Exactly why I asked the question. I couldn't tell from that thread if they were talking about taking in crotch horizontally - reducing the looseness of the thighs - or vertically, which is what I need.

It sounds from what A Tailor says as if there is a difference, and what I need cannot easily be done. I'm bummed. I LOVE those pants.

learn the name & style number. Search for another pair in another size.

Tried on 2 waist sizes and 2 inseams, 4 pairs in all. Same issue with all of them.

read it again. what i said was for you to do one of of two things.
1. wear the trousers up higher.
2. have the trousers shortened at the top.
either of these two actions will bring the crotch up higher.

I appreciate your response and had read and understood. Unfortunately, (1) does not work because they already sit pretty high, and (2) I am concerned will cut the pockets too tight to get my hands in. It will also lose the little change pocket (not sure if that's the correct term, it's a little horizontal pocket right under the waistband to the right of the fly).
