Pants sans belt loops - does it look odd?

So, I've found a few pants that I like; subtle and fit me quite well, but the only thing holding me back are the lack of belt loops... Would something like this look strange in a casual business setting (the lack of belt looking strange)? Or am I being too analytical?

To me plain waistbands are a cleaner look. I like it a lot better. Personally I now only buy pants without belt loops. But then again, I absolutely hate belts.

Yeah, I like the cleanliness of the look and prefer it the more I see it... I just was not sure if I was in some crazed minority of opinion

Some people suggest that shorter people should not wear belts with their suits. Wearing a belt divides one's outfit in two, thus ruining the natural and uninterrupted flow from jacket to pant. This interuption is not favourable when attempting to add visual height to one's person.

Too analytical; upon analyzing the setting, since it is casual, my conclusion is beltless pants should be OK.

If the setting was informal, I might not have the same view.

I too prefer pants without belt loops. Belts are just in the way and not very pleasing to the eye IMO.

totally disagree, I think a belt only adds to someone's appearance. I also find pants without loops to be quite pretentious.

I have a couple of suits where the trousers have no loops, but instead have side tabs for minor adjustments. Some have commented that the look is a bit strange, since they are not familiar with this style and have always viewed suit trousers as having loops.

Personally, I quite like the look, but I have found that the trousers slip a bit more than those with which I wear a belt.

Unbelievable. This term is beginning to lose its currency with me due to overuse by anyone who doesn't like a particular look or feature.

How can NOT wearing something ever be pretentious? What is the non-wearer pretending to be -- thin/ well proportioned??? (The irony of this post is that it comes from someone named "DrCool.")

There is nothing "pretentious" about the look. In fact, I'd say its a simpler, cleaner look - the opposoite of pretentious.

I've had some friends ask if I was wearing Sans-a-Belt. I always point out that those were a) usually made of polyester; b) usually styled with jean-type pockets (what's the proper term for those?); and c) usually worn by the high school gym teacher/football coach.

I wouldn't say the Gucci belt pictured above is pretentious. Rather, it's tacky.
