What's going on here, do I have big hips or something? I think my waist is 34, hips 41? That's about normal, right? Even if I buy pants too large and have the waist taken in, the pleats always open. It's ugly. For this reason, I typically wear flat front pants, but that's not always an option. Is there anything that can be done?

Could this be an issue about the rise (too short) or the seat (too tight)?

Is this with single-pleated pants, or double-pleated? I've noticed this tendency before with outward-facing double pleats, but for I don't think I've ever noticed a problem with single or inward-facing pleats. Don't know if that's just chance, or if there's a specific engineering reason.

By the way, does anyone know if it's possible to successfully convert double-pleats to single pleats, or outward-facing to inward-facing?

Maybe the seat is becoming too tight as you alter the waist. You may need to buy pants with a fuller cut.

You can do anything you want with pleats, but the main point here is that they are currently out of style.

But if your thighs are too thick for flat front pants, pleats will give you the better fit. Fit over latest trend, I say.

Thick thighs can be accomodated by fuller cut flat fronts.

    I disagree.

No, that's not at all the point here. And I don't particularly care what's in style.
