Hey. This is my first post on this forum. Any of you guys follow a paleolithic diet? I quit eating dairy a while ago and just recently started cutting down on cereals, pasta, potatoes, rice, bread and beans to have a diet consisting solely of vegetables, fruit, eggs and meat. If anyone has experience with a similar diet I'd be glad to hear how it's working out for you and if you're seeing any positive effects from it. If you have any arguments against a paleo diet I'd like to hear those as well. (If you've never heard the word paleolithic before I suggest checking this out: http://www.panix.com/~paleodiet/)

Be sure to take a multivitamin as well. Fruits and veggies today don't have the same nutrients they did 15,000 years ago.

Are they uncooked? Did they have fire in the paleolithic? Might need to eat it all raw. Watch out with the eggs.

Also, are there no sprouts or wheatgrass in your diet? Maybe you should talk to marc_au, Resident Wheatgrass Gimp.

I have heard of it, from the research it makes more sense than any of the other "fad" diets - my main critisism of most fads is that they seem to make no sense in terms of human evoluiton - if you want to be healthy you should be eating in a way that your body was developed. this diet is supposed ot provide your body with exactly what the human body evolved on, so it does make sense.

also, aside from processed carbs, it gives you a lot of good options - mean, fruit, nuts, vegitables, fish. it basically cuts out the processed foods.

One of the most important aspects of the paleolithic diet is that by eliminating grains, beans and potatoes from your diet you eliminate the intake of potentially harmful toxins/antinutrients existing in these kinds of foods. And by increasing your intake of vegetables, root vegetables and fruit you greatly increase your intake of vitamins. My problem is that I don't recognize any of the positive effects this surge in vitamins and decrease in toxins is supposed to give you. Maybe I'm just too impatient.

It seems to me this diet is probably very healthy for you, I just don't know if it's worth eating veggies for $20/day instead of pasta/rice/potatoes for $2/day. Plus it sucks not beeing allowed to just make yourself a sandwich when you feel like it.

I can't believe they called it "the paleolithic diet." I hope it works out for you though.

There is a hell of a lot wrong with this diet... l'll get back to you in a couple of days. Just one quick question; were's the carbs? Just another point, suggesting using a multi-vitamin is very foolish indeed. Waste of money. Multi's have alot wrong with them. No such thing as a good multi-vitamin supplement. l will explain more soon.

anyway. i don't know from 'paleolithic diet', but it seems if you want the quality of life of a stone-age dude, i would go for it. don't forget to hunt and gather, migrate (on foot), and draw crazy **** on the walls of your cave.

This forum is called "Body Consciousness" and I went here and asked some questions about a diet I've been experementing with recently. It's a well known diet and anyone with an interest in excercising and eating right would have heard about it. None of you had. Upon realizing your ignorance, instead of reading the link i posted or maybe doing a google on "paleolithic diet", you all decide to mock both me and this diet of which you know nothing about. In case your mothers never told you, this is rude and stupid behaviour. But hey, you're Americans, you're middleaged and you're surely overweight; so I guess that's what I should have expected.

You suck.

PS. Thank you globetrotter for the one serious reply to my post.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
