Pack for 5 days; if there's room left, pack for 6. After the 5th or 6th day, make use of the laundry- repeat 3 times. To be prepared for any weather, go with layers of clothing rather than bulky coats.

My personal rule is to pack for no more than three days. I did this in June for a 22 day trip and made out fine. Of course I laundered items as needed while I was away. By packing for 3 days, I can also pack everything in carry on luggage.

I pick the number one thing I couldn't go without. Then the number two. Then the number three.

When I can barely shut the saddlebags, I stop and put my helmet on.
