Can any SF'er explain this to me? Why wouldnt the same brand charge more for a Super 120's.

And considering all the hype about Super 180's, 200's etc, whats the deal with Oxxford selling Super 100's at such high prices?

Thanks!

All things being equal, the higher super number will usually be more money. The 100's may have had cashmere or something blended in. 99.9% of people would not be able to tell the diff. between a super 120 and super 100 wool if it was not labeled. Super 100, maybe 120 is about as high as I would go.

It's possible Oxxford sourced each cloth differently, and the 100s really is better made, and cost more $$$, than the 120s. For instance, if the 100s is from H&S, and the 120s is from some no-name Italian mill, that would explain it.

I have had better luck with 100's and even 80's in durability and drape then most 120's for Oxxford stuff.

There is an entry on the Winston Tailors blog ( www.chipp2.com/blog/) that deals with super 100's, etc. It is very possible to have super 120 cloth that is not as good as super 100 cloth.
