The top line, far photos make it seem "New England Professor". The close-ups seem to reveal an overly large plaid. If you were a Yale professor and wearing this coat, you'd want to keep students away from the lectern.

Forum members seem always to be asking opinions about plaids on EBay. Often it's real hard to tell what you're buying, so you often wind up buying defensively-patterns so subtle you can hardly see them.

In this case, if you've got to ask...

My first impression was that the charcter "Herb Tarlick" from "WKRP in Cincinatti" might wear it.

I wonder if this isn't just a general timidity born of conformity. I unconsciously look at solids and pinstripes as universally "safe" and plaids/windowpanes as "daring" to "tacky" despite any personal affinity I might feel. Of course, here on SF we strive to mold reality, not just accept it, so I've been fighting that instinct. [IMG] Here's my latest--how'd I do? [IMG]

I think you'd need the elbow patches to pull off the Ivy League Professor look...

More N.E. college prof, especially with a button-down shirt.

Either professor or classy car salesman or doctor or lawyer, etc.

    I would buy it.

When was the last time you saw someone sporting a sports coat with shirt plus tie and sweater vest to class? Does that even exist anymore? Jon.
