I tried on my first Oxxford suit coat the other day. Not sure what model it was. It might have been the Manhattan, and it was a last year's model, I believe.

I'm normally a 40R, although I can also wear a 39R if the cut is more sack-like. (For instance, I have a 39R HS & M that fits perfect). But even in the sack suits a 40R looks like it is sized just fine.

But the Oxxford felt a little wide in the shoulders. Especially because of the softer shoulders, for some reason I felt like the shoulder seams were just too wide. But I tried this on real quick (the store was closing and I didn't want to bother a sales guy), so I don't know if it was my haste or if the Oxxford sizing is a tad bigger. I'm on the leaner side (5"10, 160, with a swimmer's build), so it might be that they cut the suits for older, more portly guys? I'm guessing I could have fit a 38R.

Have any of you had this experience? Does Oxxford run 1 size bigger than most "Euro" cut suits?
