Like the shoes. Not really sure about the jeans though.

Question as I'm still getting the hang of all terminology: the shoes pictured aren't what SFers would term "oxfords" are they? Don't oxfords have the closed lacing and bluchers have open lacing like shown in the picture?

I would actually be more inclined to wear the shoes in the picture with jeans than I would "oxfords," though whether or not I would wear them with jeans depends largely on what else I'm wearing with them and how shiny the shoes are. I'd certainly wear them with dark jeans and a sport coat.

I'm pretty sure those are blucher / derby shoes. Closed-lacing shoes are oxfords, or balmorals.

And these aren't just terms SFers use. These are the correct names.

Ha yeah...I just didn't want to come off sounding too doctrinaire when someone was asking an honest quesiton.

I think they would look very nice with dark, dressy jeans (that are not distressed or have strange washes).

Oxfords... the problem with the terminology is that in American English, oxford can be used to refer to pretty much any non-athletic laced shoe. My guess is sometime ago, some ignorant advertising campaign influenced this usage. In my opinion is that the standard terminology used around here is the correct one (and is also the British English usage.)

dressy shoes and jeans seem to be the "in" thing these days... slap a fit together and make steez while the sun shines.

Hmm... New Standards is the closest I have. Works?
PBJs seem waaaay too skinny for those and Naked and Famous are way baggy for those.

New standards will look fine. Really any slimmish pants with a hem around 7-7.75 inches would be ideal.
Personally, I think that shoes need a little bit more age/distressing in order to work well with a casual outfit.
