1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Yeah, but at his budget I am not sure that he can afford those. Just a word of advice from an also recently graduated college student--suck it up and buy some nice shoes. Honestly, they make a world of difference, especially in an interview setting. I have been upgrading my shoe wardrobe over the past year, and have focused entirely on quality over quantity, and it has completely paid off.
thanks for the tip. any other advice?

here's one piece of advice... if you plan on wearing dress shoes everyday then make sure that you have another good pair so you can rotate between them. Wearing the same shoe day-after-day is VERY hard on them and they'll wear-out much quicker than if you rotate.

looking on the internet, what do you guys think of these? last week to get them at this price (269) before they go back to 395.

They aren't bad but you could get better. Bruno Magli are not a very well respected brand here.

Not a fan -- Park Ave looks much better to my eye.

    why not?

Low price/quality ratio. As far as I can gather they are not top quality yet are sometimes very expensive.

CL, saw those BM's at Nordstrom's Rack yesterday in NYC. Much cheaper than the website there.

The AE's Park Avenue's are still on sale for $220 including shipping (and tax if you live in a state with no Nordstrom's). I got a pair of them because I thought they were significantly better than the BM's, despite the $60 price difference.

Which shoes would you want to be wearing in their images when they reminisce over you?
+1. They take care of him when his biological didn't bother.

no. for some reason, the profile of the park aves looked weird in person--almost curved unnaturally. I'm not sure if I'm just being picky or not, but i couldn't put my finger on it. they just seemed, well, off.
I just exchanged a pair of park aves for 5th aves for that exact reason. The upward curve of the sole at the tip is extreme; the sole itself is about 2x as thick as the 5th ave one and is unlikely to straighten with use. I also didn't like the captoe itself on the PA's, looks quite bulbous. Take a look at the 5th aves if you don't mind that little brogued strip.
