Overcoat sleeve length?

Where should sleeves be hitting on an overcoat?

I bought an APC coat today, and I think the sleeves are too long. They hit around mid-palm with my arms straight down at my sides.

Overcoat sleeves should be about ½" longer than the shirt sleeves, which in turn should be ½" longer than the jacket sleeves.

Sounds like you're not too far off. Conventional wisdom holds that the coat should be cut at the "top" (or "bottom", depending on your perspective...) of the thumb (i.e., right where the thumb and index finger form a "V&quot.

Long enough to hold a glove in, but not so long as to be annoying. So, about to the V is probably right, I guess.

I also have the sleeves go to the "V". It may look just a little long when you're standing, but I prefer it that way. Otherwise, the sleeves don't cover my wrists when my arms are in a forward position such as when driving.
