    I did. Thanks!

The guy walking on that narrow ledge between the two scary-looking vats has balls.
What do they do with other parts of the horse hides? Make motorcycle jackets?
    Butt Liquor?!

It must have been done for a German website. The German guy in the middle says something like, "Not being a shoe expert, I'd say that one doesn't see the difference [between shell cordovan and calfskin]. One needs to try them on. The cordovan leather feels softer. It's smoother than this other leather, and it conforms better to the foot."

What happens to all the scraps that are not large enough for shoes?

    Taxgenius,

If you are talking about the long pieces cut out, which I think called "horse butt"
Some shoemakers and I used it to make the welt.
Some use it to make knife sharpening strop.
Some use it to make belt (I made one)

Great video. I love the guys face about a minute in when he sees the price on the AE Leeds. [IMG]

Call me immature but so far my favorite part is the sign on the tank: "Butt Liquor"

Very interesting video. I liked the demonstration of its durability. I cringed slightly when the razor blade scuffed the shoe -- amazing that the mark buffs out so easily

Fascinating to see the hard work required to transform a horse hide into a pair of shoes.

This video reminds me of something the Berlutti woman said about how shoe making combines both violence and art.
