Im attending a wedding tomorrow and I plan on wearing a Navy blue suit with subtle lighter blue pinstripes with a navy gingham shirt...having some trouble picking out a tie. I was thinking of going with a solid. My first thought was a solid navy tie (but maybe this is too much navy) Or a solid brown? Gray?....Also would a knit tie by too informal for a wedding?

Thanks!

edit: I added some pics and threw up some ties I had laying around I dont think either of them work particularly well...the shirt is a slightly lighter blue than the suit

Pinstripes + gingham sounds a bit busy IMHO.

If you don't want to do a navy tie go with green. Use a white pocketsquare.

I think navy ties go well with anything, but the solid green option sounds good as well as a solid brown.

As long as you wear a solid tie and white pocket square the pinstripes and gingham shouldn't be too much.

they pinstripes arent that bold or anything...ive worn a light blue checkered shirt with the suit and it looked good.

If I go brown...that would require brown belt/shoe? or not necessarily?

My opinion is that it would be more easy to critique with PICTURES.

A solid knit tie, probably would go for black or brown.

I think that a different color of check would be good, or maybe a solid colored shirt. Overall it's busy and the check is too similar to the color of the suit.

I think a solid navy tie, or navy tie with subtle pattern on it would work.
