I'm 6'4" 175 lbs, i.e. quite tall and wiry (I prefer that to "skinny" since I have some muscle definition, lol).

Finally found a car-coat that's well fitting, from Banana Republic. It's Medium-Tall, and I would need to have the sleeves extended about 1" (can they do that on wool coats?), but otherwise it fits pretty well - it's very slim through the waste, and the shoulders fit me, and the flare at the bottom is very minor and suits my wiry legs. So I think at long last I've found a winner. My only question at this point is whether I should get black or charcoal. I would wear this coat pretty much daily throughout the winter. I'm leaning toward black.

The second question is I'm looking for a somewhat more casual coat. I've always liked the military jacket look (olive green, thick fabric, epaulets). However I'm having trouble finding one that's not super boxy and baggy. Any leads on tall, slim-fit coats of this type or similar casualness?

Id choose the charcoal over the black. Charcoal is less severe and alot more versatile. Plus when you walk into a store, people won't think you are from the IRS.

Check out Yoox.com
They have many originating from European labels which will probably fit you better the the "generous" American cut.
