So I have a friend who is having his birthday celebration this weekend. I was planning on wearing a pair of dress shoes, dark wash jeans, dress shirt and a blazer. He's planning on wearing a dress shirt and slacks. Should I compromise my style so that he could look better or should I dress down? Remember that his idea of a dress shirt and slacks is the large blousing dress shirts and baggy slacks.

No man should ever compromise their style, due to others lack of style

It doesn't sound like you'll be inappropriately overdressed, so I think you're fine. If you wore a suit, that would be too much.
