Except it looks way too costume-like with the dark waistcoat buttons and super slim pants (fine for a tux, which can be trim, but not white tie). He also looks like he's wearing a cummerbund too, but I can't quite tell.

Does this sometimes happen if two different designers want their wears shown on a host?

Look at the break on those pants...a high school student working part-time at a mall tux shop could have gotten him a better fit.

Neither were very inspired. And he needed all the help he could get.

You guys critiquing QT's tux are completely missing the point.

No, like he doesn't really give a fuck, and he's showing up to this classy affair with all these famous fancy people looking cheap and tasteless. Which is exactly the aesthetic that his movies have.

I think everyone understands that he doesn't care about standards of dress though it doesn't mean we can't discuss it and get a good laugh. He looks like a slob.

I mean I guess you can critique it if it makes you feel better to laugh at him for having pants that are too long...I'm not saying he's cooler than the guys that wore nice tuxes, or that I would ever emulate him. But it's like you're playing a baseball game with one guy swinging while holding the barrel instead of the handle for poops and laughs, and you guys are telling him he's gotta keep his weight back a little more.

Perhaps his later films. I'm still a huge Pulp Fiction fan and know a lot of people who liked Reservoir Dogs.

However there are classier ways to show up at the Oscars looking like you don't give a fuck (oxymoron, I know), or at least ways that just make you look like a douche instead of a complete retard.

I love his movies, but it does not speak well of oneself to show up to a classy affair where your work as an artist is being celebrated looking like a sloppy jackass.

See, this is what I don't get. Why even pretend to wear a tux in that case? I don't really care how QT dresses in general (I avoid the Oscars more due to not caring about the movies that get nominated than being bothered by black tie travesties), but it seems strange to even bother with the tux if you truly don't give a f*ck. It sort of seems like a "let's push the envelope and see how shItty we can make 'black tie' look."

I was recently at a black tie optional event here in Chicago and someone showed up in jeans, a sweatshirt and a backwards facing baseball cap. That's what I call not giving a f*ck.

I think he got the kind of look he was going after, to the extent that he gave any thought to "going after" a look. It feels more right to have him wearing this than some Tom Ford double breasted number a la Tom Hanks.

Regarding his movies, personally I didn't like the movies he did before Inglorious Bastards. But in describing them as cheap and tasteless, I'm not even criticizing them. His own tastes are much more campy than classy. He loves B movies and Westerns and things like that. I don't think he would really mind at all if somebody called one of his movies "tasteless." He might even take it as a compliment.
