I don't know anything about this specific watch, but I think Oris occupies a price/quality sweet spot that was perfect for me. I bought an Oris Miles Tonneau from this outfit:

http://www.watch-czar.com/

Service was very good and the price was excellent.

As far as your first question, that watch uses a Valjoux 7750 (slightly modified), which is a very nice, very proven movement.

I have an Oris special edition that I love. I see you are in NYC. Go to Yeager, whcih is located on the corner of 47th and 5th. They are in the back of the store. The store is located on the SW corner. I have both several watches from them, Tag, Breitling. Prices are right.

not to be a jerk, but the words you choose to describe this place sounds kinda shady....
are they really legitimate?

I have an oris world-timer which is a modified ETA movement and I love it. I agree that Oris occupies a very nice "price/quality sweetspot" ....well said. Also many of their watches find their way to the gray market, and I know many people (including myself) who have gotten great deals on graymarket watches with little or no risk (as long as you have a quality reference for the seller and know a good watchmaker for repairs as you can't send it back to the mfg).

authenticwatches.com seems legit, but they do not have a shingle from the Online Better business bureau, and this policy strikes me as kind of alarming:

"We gladly accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, money orders, personal checks, Paypal, EChecks (through Paypal), Western Union and bank wire transfers on all domestic orders..................Credit card and Paypal payments will not be accepted on orders of $3,495 and above.
Credit cards are charged the day of shipment."
