I'm from Toronto - i'm going to a conference soon with some corporate attorneys, and as i'm a soon to be attorney - I need some shoes that (in order of priority)

1. Look like ordinary shoes that most lawyers/ attorneys are wearing in Toronto or New York
2. Are black
3. Can be worn with suits or dress pants and a dress shirt
4. Under 500

Thanks in advance.

Easy answer, Allen Edmonds Park Avenue. You probably could have found this by searching, but I'm in a good mood this morning for some odd reason

You should be able to find a pair cheap and easy if you scour ebay or B&S.

What size are you?

If you need them soon, they're worth $325. They are a staple shoe, appropriate for pretty much any outfit, and should last you a long time.

looking to fill the same staple item myself

would tricker's henley be an even better option for the black captoe? (on sale right now for $270ish)
I believe construction should be a little higher end, but I can't really tell from the store pics if the shape is good.

Wow... the henley is nice - where'd you see it for that price?

And would any SFers consider this the better shoe?
