So, I decided that I’m not eating healthy enough, so last week I started to eat healthier. I now limit myself to 1 can of Coke per day, but try to avoid it altogether (although I don’t drink coffee, so its basically my coffee, even though I drink it in the afternoon), eat at least 1 banana and 1 apple a day, and have taken to cut back a lot of fat from my diet. At the same time, for drinks I basically rotate between: water, apple cider (not juice), and orange juice (the pure stuff, not concentrate).

I tend to drink more orange juice than anything else, but it’s a friggin killer, since I’m having the worst case of gastrointestinal release that I can ever remember. Is this just my body cleaning itself out, or am I perhaps drinking too much OJ? Also, just to mention in passing, I bike about 30 miles a week, go to the gym for the upper part of my body, and do 10 lbs crunches on a crunch machine (both lower and upper abs) until failure.

    Jon.

I mix OJ with sodium-free seltzer half and half. It tastes much much better, less acidic and bring out the orange flavour even more. Like an orange soda with the real natural flavour. Now I don't drink OJ without mixing in seltzer.

Keep in mind that while good for you, OJ is fairly high in calories.

Yeah, but I exercises a lot, so that should help burn up all the calories, no?

is your goal to eat healthier or to lose weight? people tend to confuse this, and they're not neccessarily correlated.

I did the gallon challenge with OJ (the others used milk) and I didn't get any negative after-effects, aside from being really really full.

lol, if you're not gonna do it with milk, might as well do it with beer.

Well, actually I want to lose some stomach weight, so I can flatten my stomach (I really could care less if my abs are well defined, i.e. show well, as long as my stomach is flat, I'll be a happy guy) and I want to gain weight in general (i.e. larger arms, chest, legs). And I want to eat healthier, of course.

Yeah, the not-from-concentrate stuff is pretty acidic. I usually mix it with a little water to take the edge off. It is high in sugar/calories, so it's fine if you're burning it off, but it's not exactly healthy to drink a ton of if you're just sitting around. Not great for your teeth, either.

Guess I'll just drink more water then.

Always a good idea Jon. Especially living in Boca and doing all that exercise you should be drinking 64 ozs or more a day.

I have stomach issues when I drink orange juice as well.

Water is really the best way to go.

Orange juice has way too much sugar and has little benefit. You're better off drinking a ton of water and popping a Vitamin C cap.
