I am not sure about the bluish pinstripe... it looks quite pronounced in the pics but the seller said it is much more subtle in person...

not to mention the sleeves have been finished with working buttons which leads me to wonder, why it is being sold as 'brand new'? all Isaia i have seen have unfinished sleeves..

good question, not sure, if it is actually very subtel in person, for sure... I have actually been close to pulling the trigger on a current Zegna milano in grey with very faint purple pinstripes (its at most NM's atm)...

I guess I am worried the pinstripe will be too bold/noticeable once it arrives, but i have also noticed that sometimes, digi cam pics, pick up patterns more than seeing it in person..

If you have any reservation on the pattern, I would pass. Good chance you will end up posting in the f/s section and I doubt you will be able to recoup the 1k+ for it.

I've sold that exact suit before - the stripe in person is very similar to the photos - this isn't a negative comment, just don't wear it to an interview.

FWIW, retail was around $3k, not $4200.

I like it.

Be careful though, that seller is a pinner. It will not have anything approaching that level of waist suppression when it arrives. I made one of my first E-Bay mistakes with him years ago.......$400 worth of ugly that looked great on his display dummy in the auction.

I used to have a suit like that. I liked the colors and it looked great. However, I found myself limited in the shirts and ties that I could wear with it. Maybe I should have bought more stuff to go with it.

It is a good looking suit.

What color pinstripes you want ideally? White or chalk? Lighter gray? Light Blue? I think that suit would look fantastic, but as per a previous post by rebel "would you buy that suit if it were not Isaia?" If not, then do not buy it. Buy because you like - if you dont like the suit, whether it is Isaia, Barbera, Attolini or whatever, you will not wear it.

I personally like the purple stripes, and if that suit were in my size, you would have competition from me

Of course the suit's been pinned, it's being advertised for sale. Ever been to a photo shoot for a clothing ad? Turn those models around and you'll see pins going up and down their backs like a stegosaurus. That one of the three reasons why clothes look so much better in ads than on you (the other two being: models are usually more attractive than average, and Photoshop).

But that's why we have tailors.

In any case I would certainly hope that the suit doesn't come with that level of waist suppression because most men I know don't have such a womanly hourglass figure.

I am aware of this phenomenon in ads and on runways. I expect it.

In someone's E-Bay auction, it is a dishonest practice. On something like this Isaia the natural waist suppression will likely be sufficient. On the suit I bought, it was a different story. It was a bespoke suit and obviously made for a guy with a gut. I was not able to save it. It looked GREAT on the dummy though..and probably would have fit me nicely in about a year, if I had decided to add a case of beer to my daily routine. I had the waist taken in and it was still a trainwreck. I was very naive when I bought it and I am still pissed over it.

My taste must border on the garish, but I find nothing about those stripes to be loud or jarring. I have a double-breasted Polo suit in a very similar fabric and it doesn't seem at all out of place.

Having said that, one of the most valuable things I've learned here is that $3,000 suits that someone on Ebay is selling for $900 probably ended up on the clearance rack or wherever for them to buy for a reason. Working button holes would turn me off way more than the fabric; never seen that on any new Isaia. Someone's returned MTM maybe? Or an altered peice that a customer never picked up or paid for?

Having said that, I think it's a beautiful suit and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if you like it. That has to be a difficult size to find.

was it your personal suit? why did you sell?

As for the pinning, I figured that, I have another s-body suit in EU48 so I know that it fits me perfect, it is weird though as I am 6'1" 180lbs. and in Zegna Milano and Isaia S-bosy I wear an EU48... it sounds so small for a person my size! but fits so well with barely any tailoring.

You have a 3 day return policy with seller. Get it and try it. What do you loose except cost of shipping?

The color is very nice and purple will continue to be on-trend in fabrics and in fashion for at least another year or so. Be aware that it might begin to look a bit dated after that. Very specific colors have a tendency to do that.

Grey with purple will require the perfect tie, shirt (pocketsquare) combination to look it's best. It will look lame to just throw on a solid navy tie. A purple patterned tie that is the right shade to work with the stripes , solid white or blue shirt, maybe white linen square could work well. But finding just the right shade of purple will take a lot of searching. Any purple won't do.

As mentioned above, this is not an interview suit.

Sounds like it has been altered. Be sure to check the measurements. Taking in the sleeve of a jacket with working button holes is much more expensive since it is done from the shoulder (my guy charges about $100). But, you can't let it out.

It looks great. I love the grey and purple color combination.
