The style n00b in question is not me - rather I'm the one trying to help a relative of mine not known for his style to come up to scratch for his new job.

His new workplace is a business casual environment - I'm steering him towards tailored jackets, slim-fit trousers and slim shirts that actually fit (a first for him). I'm thinking decent quality, less formal shoes to match.

To complicate the brief, this guy is a notorious cheapskate, so you can forget spending more than $250 or £150 on shoes, and he's in Sydney, so options are limited (but include shopping online).

Question relates to the below pair. Not a pair I would buy personally. BUT - is this a good option at 100 quid for the cheapskate in question, given his workplace and other (future) attire? Or are they too hideous to even suggest?

Also open to other suggestions that fit the brief but let me stress there is no way this guy will ever buy C&Js or anything of that calibre....

100 quid is not bad.

If he's a cheapskate, then ask him if he'd like a shoe that will cost GBP 20 each year for 10 years (and will look fantastic for each of them) or GBP 100 for 3 years (and crack after the second year).
