What do you all think of these loafers? I like the shape and color very much. They retail for about $500 at Norstrom. Is this a good price for these shoes? The description says "Bologna Construction". What does this mean? How does this differ from Goodyear constructions? What is the fit like? Thanks!

I believe Bologna construction is similar to or the same as Blake-stitched construction (do a search, basically the soles are stitched through the insole instead of around the outside of the upper as in Goodyear).

I like the color and the shape, even though penny loafers are not my style. $500 is quite a bit if you are willing to shop around. Mantellassi often has very similar shoes to these and they seem to be perenially available on discount.

Welcome to the forum, BTW. [IMG]

    Welcome to the forum!

I like them, I've tried on a pair 2-3 times, but I wouldn't pay more than $300 for them and would aim for a price closer to $200. There are many companies that sell comparable loafers (of course, not the exact same shape and color) and, with patience, they can be found more cheaply. If I _really_ liked the shape and color, I would wait for a pair of Mantellassi's as j suggests or wait for a pair to show up on ebay (color when purchased is not critical, as you can do some creative things with shoe cream/polish, a little patience, and a willingness to experiment).
