I have been interested in expanding my brandage a bit and was considering the ones listed in the title as possibilities but now that I have seen all in person I must say some didnt impress. Mainly Filippa K, Shipley, Lindeberg. The quality and fits just didnt seem all that special to me especially the Shipley stuff, all made in China. And the Filippa just looked like a want to be Acne but on a lower level all around. Lindeberg was doing it either....

As for s2a, stuff was very nice imo. Anyone own s2a stuff, how do you like it? the sweaters I tried on felt great and fit perfect, only complaint is that they tend to place their symbol on alot of stuff....Maharishi had some pretty nice casual jackets but some of th other stuff was a bit to crazy looking for my taste.

any comments on those brands mentioned? S2A, Filippa K, Shipley, Maharishi, Lindeberg

Christ, how many more times do we have to have the "Just because it was made in China doesn't mean it's crap" conversation??? It's stupid and completely meritless.

Filippa K puts out some pretty decent clothes but I tend to categorize it with Acne. Lindeberg fits into the same genre, too. Not to say any of them are bad but I think of them as mid-range youth brands.

You could argue Shipley deserves to be in that category but as they're an off-shoot of Trovata I tend to put them aside. S&H is still trying to work itself out and while I wouldn't mind wearing them I've never been totally compelled to buy into them; however, after seeing their F/W 09 collection that will probably change. Definitely liked a few of their pieces (a peacoat and plaid shirt come to mind).

S2A, as Fok will tell you, is a favorite brand of mine. The fit is what I'm going for and so is the design, a kind of preppy version of NiCo. I saw a lot of stuff from this past season on sale while in NYC this trip that I should have snatched up like their cable sweaters but then when the hell would I get a chance to wear them living in a tropical country?

I also love S2A. I highly recommend the outerwear, I have a black waxed trench, and I won't wear anything else in rainy weather.

true about the made in china aspect, the S&H was more about the fit and the look, especially the suits, I just didnt like it. Have yet to see the new season stuff so I cant comment on that. As far as Acne, personally I would place it higher on the list then Fil K or Lind. I love the acne denim both washes (or raws for that matter) and cuts, they always seem to look great when I try them on... I am leaning toward picking up some S2A pieces, I really like the tee's as well.

You need to separate Acne denim from the rest of their stuff just like you would with Nudie. They're two different beasts all together.

And s2a's outerwear/sweaters/etc are top-notch. Just thinking about this makes me want to wear my tan baseball jacket tomorrow and bring my trench in case of rain.

Filippa K have great basics and the quality is good imo. Acne is more quirky, but fun when it works.

Ive got a few S2A pieces, my favorites being a wool trench and a cotton contrast paneled bomber. Both are really great fitting and have very nice construction.
