This item caught my eye, any opinions on this? What about the cotton/moleskin material, how does that fit into the grander scheme of things. Any place to find something like this but a little cheaper? And would the measurements be ok for a 38R?

A beautiful coat for casual wear, not suits. 44" chest could fit a 38R if you wear a sweater underneath. 26" sleeves will likely need shortening. Not sure you can find this Borrelli anywhere else for cheaper though, I doubt it.

I actually tried on the same jacket at the Borelli store in San Francisco this weekend. It is beautifully made and the fit is trim (fitted). I tried on a 46 (36US) and it gave me a nice V silhouette. They only have it in khaki, blue, and navy. As I mentioned on an earlier post, they are having a 30% sale which puts this cheaper than the eBay price (~$2.1k). They will also perform any alterations on it for free to achieve a perfect fit. Something to consider as well. Good luck!

Can one of the experts here help me find a similar coat that would be suitable for wear with suits and casual? Is there a Borelli store in the NYC/NJ area?

Ah, google maps, I would be lost without. Do you know if they are having the above mentioned sale this week?

No clue on that one. You have the #. Give them a call & share your knowledge! I'll be curious to see if they are as nice as the gentlemen in SF.

The ebay price is 849.00.
Borrelli is selling this at 30% off of 2.k puts it at $1400.

So what price are they selling it at in SF?

I went back to read the eBay price. It's cheaper on eBay. The $2.1k is the discounted price. It is currently around $2.9k retail. Sorry for the error.

Mr. Soph & MS244,
I wear the same size (38R), and in my opinion, this coat might be a bit roomy. Wearing 40R might give you a general fit (won't make you look like wearing your dad's coat) but you will loose the intended shape Borrelli gives to a 38R body.

Otherwise a beautiful coat for the weekends with sweaters and casual shirts.

Oh, I'm just a spectator on this one, I'm a 42 R in Borrelli, but I agree with your analysis; It's an superb coat. Beautiful color.
