Hello everyone! This is my first post on Styelforum; I look forward to both making and reading many more in the coming months. I have been considering the purchase of a bespoke suit for quite sometime now. I am close to making the plunge, or as I like to think of it as, a sartorial step up. Anyways, I am trying to come up with a style that is classic, yet appeals to my sensibilities. I saw on a blog this morning a picture of the author. He seems to be a very well dressed gentleman, and I very much like the cut of his suit. It has Peak lapels, Hacking pockets, and a ticket pocket. Waist suppression seems appropriate yet not excessive. I have posted the picture below, with the authors head cropped out (this is a requirement of posting images, correct?) What are your opinions of this suit? A good role model as I develop my own style? Do you have any suggestions for me as I begin this adventure?

Suit looks very nice...I like the peak lapels and electric blue pinstripes, and it has a nice roll in the lapel and looks to be quality wool. I don't like the shirt or collar at all, nor do I care for the tie. Welcome on board by the way...

If you are just starting out(as I am) I'd advise against trying to coordinate a bunch of different patterns as shown here. Get the basics down first is what I've been reading.

As for this picture I personally don't like the tie. If it was a solid tone of red I think it would look better.

just by looking at the pic, can you elaborate more on your comments on the suit's quality? How do you decide that it is a bad quality one?

Thanks

Welcome to SF, Bc. I think that suit rocks. People may (and certainly will) quibble with you over the details and accessories, but it seems to me that you're really just asking about the suit, right? In my opinion, you could do a lot worse than emulate this guy's style.

So come on! Who is he?

So the general concensus is that it is a good style of suit. I am glad most of you agree. The blog is www.richestmanintown.com. Any other oppinions. I realy like the pinstripes, so I dont quite understand smmea's response. "suit is very bad quality, , that reminds me 6 yeras agoe." --How so? Any other tips. I really like the look of Turnbull and Asser's Blue Pinstripe Suit. What have any of your heard about this brand. I know they make excellent bespoke shirts, but how about their suits? http://www.turnbullandasser.com/jackets.html I really appreciate all the help!

I like the suit and have a similar one, but you should think about some things:

If you just start building a suit wardrobe, maybe you should start with a solid navy or charchoal suit in a very conservative styling.
In this case I wouldn't go for the peak lapels and the hacking pockets.

The suit showed in the OP, is very nice, but also quite distinctive.
If you have to wear the suit on a regular basis you may have problems to create several different looks with that suit. A solid navy suit on the other hand, can be accesorized in a way, that most people wouldn't even think you wear the same suit again.

Surely, if you have enough suits and just want a nice addition, go for it.
The styling is timeless and will serve you well.

Very patronising.

You do not know what the OP's circumstances are so "If you just start building a suit wardrobe, maybe you should start with a solid navy or charcoal suit in a very conservative styling." and so starting with a very conservative style might be utterly irrelevant.

The OP first post mentions he is considering bespoke. I think we can assume he already owns some clothes. He also seems to be interested in design issues. So no point rambling on about the quality of the suit in the pic.

But you see the "IF" there in the beginning, do you?

I just wanted to open this perspective to the OP and I honestly don't think it is a bad advice.

Maybe it is irrelevant for the OP, maybe it's not. So why don't we let decide him?
