Opinions/advice on this vintage port

I have these two bottles of port. The labels say the contents are from 1937 vintage.

I know nothing about port, so I'm looking for advice... are these worth keeping, worth drinking, worth selling? Or have they passed their prime?

I have no idea on the brand - but, depending on how the port has been stored it could possibly be good. A friend of mine turned up a couple of bottles of Penfolds 52 the other month and one was excellent. Judging by the fact that the bottles are individually numbered there is a chance that this port could be worth some money - perhaps it is worth googling or take it to a wine auctioneer.

I think this port house has been defunct since around 1950. If forced to make a swag, I would guess that they are worth around $300 bottle, quite possibly more. As for drinkability, port is generally indestructable but I wouldn't have a high expectation for something (anything) thats been in the bottle over 70 years. If you're in the states, you might want to send an email to christies for an auction estimate.

Could we have the story about how you came to own these?
