Opinion on a suit

I am rebuilding my wardrobe from the bottom up and am now to suits. I wear suits 4-5 times a year mostly for weddings and funerals.

Being sent away is cheap gray pinstripe and old black suit. After researching here I plan to buy a nice middle to charcoal gray suit that can last me for a decade or more.

That leaves me to this Burberry suit which is brown, with cream nailhead (?) pattern. I bought this when I had no clue about 7 years ago.

I think it might still work for afternoon events?

Thoughts on the style and fit?

In real life I think it appears to be somewhere between these images in color

It's not too bad and could do for minor informal occasions

Thanks for the feedback. And I note you say not too bad which is not good. Do you think more tailoring could make it better or is it just what it is because of style and color in your opinion?

Also I have a Southern European complexion with a medium contrast to my black hair. I am not clear if that argues for or against a brown suit and this was also one of my concerns/questions about this suit. It was really a random purchase when I bought this. The sales woman said I looked good in it and that was that.

Anyhow, I wear suits so infrequently I am keeping it but am not sure how often I will wear it once I get a new suit.

I think it looks okay. Buttoning point is a tad high, arm could use some work (rotation) but the trousers fit really well.

Was a higher button stance the style in years past?

I had the same comment regarding an old sportcoat

+1

only other thing I see is the significant divot in the right sleeve.
