Hello all,

While I understand the merits of solid gold dress watches, I am wondering what people think of a quality gold plated dress watch. And I am only referring to the case, as I wear a leather strap on my dress watch

I am looking at some models from Frederique Constant that are extremely elegant and moderately priced. Also a model from Revue Thommen (Nostalgia 1853).

Considering the entry point of a pre owned solid gold modern dress watch is about $2000 and new is about $3000 with most starting at around $5000 would this mean it is either the real deal or nothing??

FWIW I do have a solid gold Longines circa 2007 and am considering selling to finance a couple of less expensive watches that are a couple of mm larger and to have more variety in my collection.
