I'm considering donating to a charity this year in lieu of giving Christmas presents. Does anyone have experience with these organizations? Legitimacy? Similar groups?

Operation Smile does missions in the poorer areas here. Yes, they're legit, and they're doing very good work.

Donate to operation smile, for $250 they are legit and they really do fix a child's cleft palate. It has become my new favorite charity.
