I am in the market for formal wear shoes this fall and am considering formal pumps amongst others. I've only seen pics of opera pumps by themselves and not being worn. I am hoping your pics can help make up my mind one way or the other.

    Thanks in advance.

I know of five guys that probably wear pumps on this forum

    Sator
    Full Canvas
    Label King
    Cravatte Noir
    Whoopee

I've never met an opera pump that I like although santoni does one with a very small bow that I may wear

He said opera pumps, not Louboutin pumps [IMG]

I just bought a pair of AE Ritz. I will wear them to School with skinny trousers.

I wear them, too, but no pics. I'll try to remember to take one the next time I do. They're from Brooks Brothers.

I wear calf pumps with black dinner suit or white tie, and Albert slippers of various sorts with black tie with tartan jackets.

I'm not fond of laced shoes with dinner wear.

I'll start...not that you can see them very well, but frankly that's the point...in context they're much less noticeable than everyone seems to think:

Also, these are AE Ritz so they probably don't count under Ed's definition of Opera Pumps, although they do have bows.

I ordered opera pumps last week from Shipton & Heneage -- patent was not my first choice, but the $600 price tag from Sky Valet/EG was a bit steep.

I'll take a photo when I get them and get my tux back from Will Field. Stay tuned .....

I like them actually, seem pretty discreet.

This forum has taught me many things - one of them is that I will never wear opera pumps.

These are Johnston & Murphy in a similar style to the Ritz, thus not exactly opera pumps.

Mark, has anyone ever told you that you look not dissimilar to Rowan Atkinson?

    No he doesn't

What's the difference between those AEs and J&Ms and proper opera pumps?
