So -- say you have a nice open weave fresco or hopsack and you're making a jacket and want something to brave the hot and humid months of summer

Do you line it? Half-line it? Leave it unlined?

No lining means more ventilation, but might that also allow the white of one's shirt show through?

What might the more experienced members of this forum have to say on this topic?

Since it's going to be a summer jacket, it will be a light colour. And since it's a light colour the light shirt underneath won't show as much. The only time I've noticed someone's shirt showing through a half or quarter-lined jacket is on stage. The two times I saw jazz pianist Monty Alexander it was clear his navy sports coat was half-lined. The bright lights on stage went straight through the fabric.

I would make sure the lining is somewhat similar to the fabric too. I got the sleeves of a navy suit lined in a light cream and it shows through in the right light or in photos that were taken w/ a flash.
