Open Collars Under Jackets-What your favorite way to wear it?--(PiCs)

The IamMatt's Shoulder thread poses an interesting question.
1. Also what about the crew t shirt under the dress shirt?
2. What type of collar do you prefer?
3. In or Styling (pimping) Out?
Some seem to really hate this. Here's a pic to give you a starting visual.

I am sure to be in the minority here, but I think that an open collar looks ultra-dorky without chest hair. You look like a fourteen year old boy.

Other than that, both looks work for me. I think that the only guiding principles are whether you like it and whether you feel comfortable doing it.

Clooney all day! Pitt looks like he just stepped out of a gucci add in GQ. I prefer either a button down collar or a english spread.

I'd say it's safe to assume most guys here own suits/shirts that are better worn Clooney style. But I think the pimpin'Pitt look also works on the right guys. I like to wear it Clooney style, preferably with a buttondown if no tie.

I think these guys have it right. Older and suave, Clooney style. Younger and more stylish, Pitt style.

I think Pitt looks better in that pic. Clooney looks like he's just going without a tie instead of wearing a casual outfit.

That said, it's safer to wear them inside. Maybe if you look and act like Pitt/Rusty and live in climates as hot as or hotter than Vegas.

I think just about any thin young man could make the Pitt look work. I can for one. The fact that his suit has peak lapels makes it click.

I can't say I'm the biggest fan of open collar white shirts with a suit though, because of the reason whoopee stated. It seems like you have to wear a more vibrant shirt with a suit to dress it down. It doesn't hurt especially when the inside of the collar contrasts a bit like that too.

This thread has made me realize I need to order a bunch of buttondowns. I am sorely lacking.

Just make sure the collar stands up. IMO the worst way to do that look is with a spread collar that's too low, so it gets pushed flat against your collar bone by the suit lapels.

I've been picking up Brooks' buttondowns on deep discount on eBay lately. Apparently the move to non-iron has the clearance centers well-stocked with the traditional cotton, which suits me fine.

I actually have a ton of Land's End buttondowns, believe it or not. The are kind of fleecy and are really comfortable, and actually quite slim. However, they are certainly very casual and are in various plaids. So I really need some dressy ones. I will probably order some W. W. Chans assuming their specials are decent next trip to the U.S.

I like both looks although I do the Clooney look much more often than the Pitt look. I reserve the Pitt for tropical weather while I'll sport the Clooney in all seasons including the dead of Winter. The Pitt requires a collar with a high stand and long points. I prefer a one piece rolled collar in linen.

As for t-shirts, either a v-neck or none at all when wearing an open collar shirt(with jacket/suitcoat). I don't mind seeing your chest hair but I don't want to see your underwear.

Since I look like a cross between Pitt and Clooney, I have no problem pulling off either look. I have Clooney's big toe and Pitt's elbow.
